Looking for a dry-style pinot gris that still packs a punch of richness, elegance and all-round excellence? Then you’ve come to the right cul-de-sac friend, because Rosie Butler and Rodger Tynan of Tikokino have created all that in spades. Rich stonefruit notes overlap with classic apple and nashi nuances and it’s stitched together with spices of all persuasions. The acidity is crispy-fresh, yet the partial barrel-ferment and extended lees action have softened the wine and injected a toasty, creamy complexity. This gris really agrees with me (so poetic). Get it now or forever kick yourself.
